W T "Dub" Holden

W T Holden, lovingly known as Dub, passed away on August 6, 2026, in Rowlett, Texas. Dub was born on August 24, 1937, in Grand Saline, Texas, to Hazel Earlene and Wiley Theodore Holden.

Dub lived a life marked by service, faith, and love for others. An Army veteran, he carried that spirit of service with him throughout his life, always willing to lend a hand, offer guidance, or simply be there when someone needed him.

He found joy in fishing and in the creativity that came through his art. He was not only an artist himself, but a teacher who loved sharing his talents and encouraging others to discover their own gifts.

His faith was at the heart of who he was. Even after his years of military service, Dub continued serving others as an active pastor of several small churches. He was a mentor to fellow pastors and a steady source of wisdom, encouragement, and strength to those around him. He didn't simply preach about faith—he lived it through the way he cared for people.

Above all, Dub was devoted to his family. He was always there when they needed him, offering love, support, and a listening ear. His presence was a source of comfort and strength, and the lessons he taught through his life will remain with those who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of his family, friends, church communities, and all those fortunate enough to have called him their mentor and friend.

Dub is survived by his wife, Martha Holden; daughter, Sara “Kay” Hastings and Art; daughter, Sue Holden; daughter, Sherrie Holden; grandson, Nathan Hastings; grandson, Benjamin Hastings and Isabelle; sister, Bea Lee; sister, Lynn Brach; as well as his two nieces and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Wiley; brother, Wesley Holden; and nephew, John Holden.

And now, Dub is fishing in Heaven, where the waters are always peaceful, the skies are always beautiful, and he’s got a golden reel in his hands and a bite every time he casts.
