Sherri Dale Stovall

Sherri Dale Stovall, a beloved teacher and nurturing figure in her community, passed away at the age of 66, in Mesquite, Texas, on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at her residence.  Born on June 22, 1957, in Terrell, Texas, she was the daughter of Crowell Ford Stovall, Jr. and Billie Jo Griffin. Sherri touched the lives of countless individuals throughout her life and leaves behind a legacy of compassion and love.

Sherri dedicated her career to teaching young minds in the Terrell and Mesquite Independent School Districts. For many years, she passionately taught pre-kindergarten students, instilling in them a love for learning and a solid foundation for their future education. Her patience and dedication were evident every day as she patiently guided her students towards success.

Education was of utmost importance to Sherri. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Texas State University before going on to earn her master's degree from East Texas State University in 1993. These academic achievements served as a testament to her commitment to personal growth and lifelong learning.

But it was not just within the walls of the classroom that Sherri made an impact. She possessed a caring and loving personality that radiated warmth wherever she went. Always happy and helpful to many, Sherri had an innate ability to brighten someone's day with her genuine kindness and infectious laughter.

One of Sherri's proudest accomplishments was fostering many children throughout the area. She provided a loving and nurturing home for these children who needed support, eventually adopting two children, Michael and Hollie. Sherri's dedication to being a mother knew no bounds, as she poured her heart into creating a safe and loving environment for her children.

Sherri was a child of God and a great believer in second chances. Her son and daughter, Michael and Hollie, as well as her grandchildren, Cameron and Kayla, would not be where they are today without her unconditional love and support. And as they say, "she was the backbone of their family".

She treasured being a Grandma and was both proud and grateful to see her grandchildren graduate high school. After her retirement, she loved her retirement life with less schedules.

Sherri Dale Stovall will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind cherished memories that will be forever etched in the hearts of those she loved. Her legacy lives on through her son, Michael Stovall, and daughter, Hollie Stovall, who will undoubtedly carry forward the values of compassion and love that she embodied.

In addition to her children, Sherri is survived by her sisters Brenda Bacon and Debra Kay Stovall and Judy Davis, her brother Mark Stovall, as well as her granddaughter Kayla Reynolds and grandson Cameron Johnson. Sherri greatly admired her son-in-law, Joel Johnson, who as she was proud to say "Joel was a patient and stand-up man". Although grief may fill their hearts at this time of loss, may they find solace in the beautiful memories they shared with Sherri.
