Ralph Ennis Fortner

Memorial services for Ralph Ennis Fortner, age 81, of Terrell, Texas will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, October 29, 2021, at Anderson Clayton Funeral Chapel, Terrell, TX. Ralph Ennis Fortner passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Ralph was born on April 7, 1940, in Swainsboro, GA. He proudly served with the US Navy for 28 years where he did two tours in Vietnam. Ralph worked for the US Postal Service for over 20 years before retiring a second time. After retirement Ralph volunteered for many years with his local Meals on Wheels and was awarded with “The Volunteer of The Year” in 2013. He wasn’t one to just sit idle and this resulted in many trips to the grocery store where he always bought way too many groceries. Ralph was one-of-a kind and loved his family very much. He always carried the candy ‘Smarties’ in his pocket for the kids and stocked snacks in his truck to add to the food deliveries he made to those in need. Ralph enjoyed driving around in his truck and gardening in his vegetable garden. He also liked working in the yard and was very proud of his lawn and flower gardens.
He is survived by his sweetheart, Linda McSpadden; his children, Shawn Fortner & (Jeanne), Joy Fortner, Sherri Bridges & (Greg); 6 grandchildren: Zach Fortner & (Ashley), Cory Fortner & (Britney), Lindsey Fortner, Savannah Bridges & (Patrick), Brent Bridges & (Kayli), Alexandra Prince & (Jesse); 4 great grandchildren: Aleah Prince, Presley Prince, and one more on the way, Walker Prince and Parks Pointer; his sister, Faye Gay and numerous nieces, nephews & other beloved family and friends who will miss him greatly.

Ralph was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Margaret Ellen Fortner, his parents, A.M. and Pearl Allmond, and his brother-in-law Gene Gay.
