Nelson Grant Harwell, Jr., passed away on May 18, 2026, in Mineola, Texas. Grant was born on November 28, 1944, in Terrell, Texas, to Essie (Brantley) and Nelson Grant Harwell, Sr.

Grant worked diligently for over 40 years at Mead Products as a machine operator and retired in 2004. Once retired, he enjoyed spending his time in the great outdoors. Whether it was deer hunting, building deer stands and feeders, or attending his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's baseball games and sporting events.

Grant is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rosemary Harwell; son, Chris Harwell and wife Lynette; daughter, Amy Symns and husband Grant; grandchildren, Blake Harwell (Alexis), Garrett Woodall (Yulissa), Rylee Harwell, Sophie Symns, Sara Symns; great-grandchildren, Hagen Harwell, Hudson Harwell, Haisley Harwell, Alila Woodall; sister, Jane Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Nelson and Essie, and 4 sisters, Betty Bledsoe, Margaret Mathis, Linda Jones, Kay Meeks, their respective spouses; and brother-in-law, Jim Jones.

Family and friends will gather in his honor at College Mound United Methodist Church, on Saturday May 30, 2026 from 2pm-4pm.
