Maxine Rae Olsen

Maxine Rae (Smoots) Olsen, age 78, of Terrell, Texas passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

Maxine was born on December 5, 1942, in Aitkin, Minnesota to John Raymond and Dorothy Mae Smoots.
She graduated in 1960 from Aitkin High School. She worked for AT&T for many years before retiring.

She enjoyed traveling, whether by car or boat, or by venturing to other worlds through books, as she was an avid reader throughout her life. Maxine's love of books led her to encourage others to read by volunteering at Riter C. Hulsey Public Library in Terrell, where she led the Wings Adult Literacy Program and also served on the Friends of the Library Board.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Jezierski and husband, Michael Young; stepchildren Duane Olsen and partner Linda Clark, Tammie Mahnke and husband Earl, Amy McNutt and husband James Johnson, and Robert McNutt Jr.; brother Edward Smoots; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter along with a host of other beloved nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Charles McNutt Sr., her first husband, Laurence Phillip Olsen and two brothers, Harold Smoots and Delbert Smoots.

Maxine will be interred in a private ceremony at Highland Memorial Gardens in Terrell, Texas.

Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home-Terrell.

Auntie Maxine, I always loved your laugh. My memories of you are when you lived in Duluth/Park Point. I remember you as lovely person and mom to Jeanne, Tammie and Duane, Sorry to hear about the passing and send my condolences to all who loved and will miss Maxine. Mt mother Helen (former sister in law) sends her thoughts and prayers too.

Condolence to Jeanne and the entire family. As the Holidays began I started to think about you and mini fruit cakes. I tried to call but didn't know you were gone. Minnie and I talked about you. Maxine played such a role in my sons life and changed his outlook on school! She drove him to the library every day one summer. I loved her very much and am so sorry to see this. Praying for you all.

Maxine was such a joy to know. She always had a smile and was ready to laugh. She and Robert were such wonderful neighbors. Jeanne you have our deepest sympathy.
