Mary Jane Kennemer

The life of Mary Jane Kennemer was one of unwavering love and steadfast devotion to her family and faith. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 13, 2025 at the blessed age of 93 at her home in Mesquite, Texas.

Born in Wood County, Texas on 3/13/1932 Jane dedicated her life to serving her family and her church. At 46, while raising her four children, Jane worked hard to earn her nursing degree in 1978. She began a job with Methodist Hospital after she graduated and then eventually began working for Dr. Shu Ying Turng. Dr. Turng began as her employer but their relationship developed into a sweet friendship that Jane cherished until the end of her life. She was very involved with the Girls Missionary Auxiliary, a missions-focused organization for young girls between 4th-12th grades. She was also a very skilled seamstress. She made many costumes for the church Christmas and VBS programs. She was a true servant to her church. Her home was always open, she enjoyed sitting in her rocker that was placed by the front door so she could look out to the street. Granny or “Ms. Jane” was always ready to greet any visitors with a smile.

The greatest joy in her life was her family. Jane and her late husband, Ben Kennemer were married December 3, 1948. They were married for 56 years before he passed away in February of 2004. She is survived by her oldest son, Richard Kennemer and his wife Marge; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Kennemer; her grandchildren, Cyndi, Rance, Melissa, Christopher, Samantha, Brandon, Steven and Emily; and her 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ben Kennemer, her three children: Benny, Barbara and Steve;  and her siblings - Clyde Pollard, Mildred Putnam, Dorothy Heddin and Annie Mae Sturges. While we grieve her passing, we find solace knowing she is now at peace in the arms of her Savior, reunited with her beloved husband, Ben.
