Josefina Bernal Carmona Lopez, a beloved matriarch known for her generous heart and warm hospitality, passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2025 surrounded by family. Born in Nuevo Leon, Mexico on July 26th, 1942, Josefina led a full life of devotion to her family and loved ones. In 1966, Josefina and her beloved husband, Lusio Carmona Lopez, exchanged vows in a heartfelt ceremony beneath the warm skies of Edinburgh, Texas. One year later, they settled in Terrell, Texas, where they raised their six children, seven grandchildren, and three great- grandchildren together for nearly 60 years.Mornings in Josefina's home began with the comforting routine of coffee brewing and the rustle of newspaper pages. True to her nature as a provider, she was always ready with a hot breakfast - whether sizzling chorizo and eggs, warm tortillas, or buttery pancakes, she always ensured her family started each day nourished. This daily act of care continued even as her grandchildren grew, a testament to her steadfast devotion.Josefina maintained strong connections with relatives through regular phone calls to Mexico and South Texas, where hours-long conversations kept family ties strong across borders. Her fondness for sweets was legendary among her grandchildren, who knew her kitchen would always have her favorite sweet treats like marranitos, coconut cake, or other pan dulces to share during their visits. Even the stray neighborhood cats knew they could always find a meal at her back porch. Quick with a joke and always ready to laugh, she brought lightness to everyday moments.Her kitchen remained a gathering place, where the sound of laughter created lasting memories for multiple generations.She is survived by; her sister, Margarita Bernal; her children- Armando Carmona, Gloria Carmona, Angelica Carmona and her husband Kenneth Grunden, Alfredo Carmona, Diana Carmona, and Yolanda Main and her husband Marc Main; her adored grandchildren- Vanessa Cadena, Kristi Grunden and her husband Tanner Beard, Jonathan Cadena, Martin Gonzalez and his wife Flor Gonzalez, Kali Grunden, Marcos Gonzalez, and Veronica Cadena; her precious great-grandchildren- Alize Neri, Selena Donald, and Waylon Donald; and her numerous nieces and nephews.Josefina is reunited in heaven with her husband, Lusio Carmona Lopez; her parents, Catarino Bernal and Feliciana Sanchez Bernal; and her siblings: Filiberto Bernal, Ildelfonso Bernal, Juanita Bernal Garate, her twin Herculana Bernal Rodriguez, Everardo Bernal, and Miguel Bernal.Though her presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, humor, and strength lives on in every story shared, every memory cherished, and every life she touched.Pallbearers: Vanessa Cadena, Kristi Grunden, Tanner Beard, Jonathan Cadena, Martin Gonzalez, Flor Gonzalez, Kali Grunden, Marcos Gonzalez, and Veronica Cadena.Visitation will be held on July 24, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson Clayton Funeral Home, located at 301 W Nash St, Terrell, TX 75160.A funeral service will take place the following day, July 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 702 N Frances St, Terrell, TX 75160. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM.

Josefina Bernal Carmona López, una querida matriarca conocida por su generoso corazón y cálida hospitalidad, falleció pacíficamente en su hogar el 16 de julio de 2025 rodeada de su familia. Nacida en Nuevo León, México, el 26 de julio de 1942, Josefina llevó una vida de plena devoción a su familia y seres queridos. En 1966, Josefina y su amado esposo, Lusio Carmona López, intercambiaron votos en una emotiva ceremonia bajo el cálido cielo de Edimburgo, Texas. Un año después, se establecieron en Terrell, Texas, donde criaron juntos a sus seis hijos, siete nietos y tres bisnietos durante casi 60 años.Las mañanas en casa de Josefina comenzaban con la reconfortante rutina del café recién hecho y el crujido de las páginas del periódico.
