John Richard Brown

John Richard Brown of Forney, Texas was born on August 7, 1946 in Denver, Colorado to Willis "Bud" Brown and Frances Faughtenbery Brown. He passed away on September 8,2025 in Sunnyvale, Texas.

When John wasn't busy spending time with his 8 grandchildren he was involved in chuckwagon competitions, the local Boy Scout troop, gardening, carpentry, camping and teaching the next generation all of those things. He met his wife Sandra Bolding Brown at The University of North Texas. They were married at the First Baptist Church in Forney on August 15,1970. He spent 13 years teaching at South Garland High School and 22 years at Garland High School. He retired from teaching in 2005.He started as a leader in the Boy Scouts Troop 339 in Forney in 1985. He moved up the ranks of the Scouting program and served as Assistant Scout Master, District Commissioner and District Training Chairman. He retired from Scouting as the Troop Committee Chair earlier this year.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra Brown of Forney, Texas, his brother and sister-in-law Gerry and Tricia Brown and family of Whitehouse, Texas, daughter and son in law Tracey and Chris Wadlington of Longview, Texas, son and daughter in law Randy and Jamie Brown of Amarillo, Texas. Grandchildren Brandon and Hannah Wadlington, Wyatt Stevens of Longview, Texas, Jorden, Abigail, Lillian and Ethan Brown of Amarillo, Texas

He was preceded in death by grandparents Hezekiah and Carrie Faughtenbery of Gentry, Arkansas and Lou and Lillian Brown of Denver, Colorado. Parents Willis and Frances Brown and granddaughter Ashlee Stevens of Lubbock, Texas.

A memorial service will be held September 12,2025 at 2 PM located at First Baptist Church, 1003 College St. Forney, Texas.
