James Franklin Gordon, a beloved son, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 2, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 27, 1943, in Waverly Hall, Georgia. During his remarkable life journey, he left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
James had an established career as a long-haul trucker that spanned over 50 years. He possessed a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility driving across the country. His dedication to his profession was matched only by his love for his family.
Those closest to James will always remember his quick wit and infectious sense of humor. He had an incredible talent for captivating others with his witty jokes and anecdotes. James found joy in bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. His lively spirit and playful nature brightened many lives throughout the years.
James was a man of honor and integrity, having served four years in the United States Navy. His military service spoke volumes about his commitment to serving something greater than himself. It shaped him into the resilient and selfless individual he became.
Above all else, James Gordon's proudest accomplishment was his family. He shared a beautiful life with Frances Greenman Gordon, his loving wife of 48 years. Together they built a strong foundation filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. James leaves behind cherished memories for his children: Neville Dane Gordon (and wife Shannon) of Florida; Dallas Gordon Myers (and husband Jacob) of Canton, TX; Christopher Carlson (and wife Patricia Quick Carlson) of Florida; as well as grandchildren Caylee, Reagen, Brayden, Blake James Martin (and wife Nichole), Garrett Austin Spangler, Shawn Carlson (and wife Krista), Greggory Mason Spangler (and wife Shayne); great-grandchildren Braxton Martin, Braylee Martin, Mazelyn Spangler, Abel Carlson, Sophia Carlson, Amelia Carlson, and Jansen. He was also loved by his nephew Ronald Gordon (and wife Pam) and cousin Tom and Pam Goodwin and a special bonus son, Timothy Martin
Proceeded in death by his parents Hood Gordon and Ruth Sullivan Gordon, son Clifford Shawn Gordon and brother Ronald E. Gordon.
His journey included countless precious memories shared with his friends and neighbors and they were an essential part of James' life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
To celebrate James's life, his loved ones will gather for various services. The visitation will take place on August 10, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Anderson Clayton Funeral Home located at 301 W. Nash St, Terrell, TX 75160. A funeral service, honoring James's legacy and the impact he made on the lives around him, will follow at the same location from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. On August 16, 2023, a graveside service will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
James Franklin Gordon was an extraordinary man who left behind a trail of laughter and love in his wake. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and dedication both in his profession as a trucker and in his role as a devoted family man. His spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to have known him. May his soul find eternal peace, knowing that he made a profound impact on the lives of all who had the privilege of calling him friend or family.
