Eugene "Big Daddy" Karry Bridges

Eugene Karry Bridges, lovingly known as “Big Daddy”, passed away on September 20, 2026, in Rockwall, Texas, at the age of 91. He was born to Clem Bridges and Edna (Makins) Bridges in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on June 20, 1935.

Eugene was a hardworking man who loved life, adventure, and staying busy. He had a passion for racing and driving—especially street cars. He often joked that he “got paid to play,” a fitting description of someone who truly loved what he did.

Eugene proudly served his country, first in the National Guard and later in the United States Air Force. Throughout his career, he was a superintendent for several construction companies, where his experience, dedication, and strong work ethic made a lasting impact. Outside of work, Eugene loved traveling in his RV and seeing new places.

Above all, Eugene loved his family and wife, Wilma Jean. Their life together was a cherished part of who he was, and the love they shared will remain a lasting part of his story.

Eugene will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of cars and racing, his stubborn nature, his service to his country, and most of all, his love for Wilma Jean and the people who knew him.

Eugene is survived by his son, Garry Bridges; granddaughter, Kristie Todd and Brian Rust; grandson, Jared Bridges and Melissa Page; grandson, Jonathan Bridges and Sharon Bean; grandson, Jathen Bridges and Alicia; 8 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; aunts, uncles, and many dear friends.

Eugene was predeceased by his wife of 76 years, Wilma Jean Bridges; son, Terry Bridges, and Karen; daughter-in-law, Derrek Bridges; and grandson, Nancy Bridges.
