Barbara Audrey Roberts

Barbara Audrey (Carter) Roberts passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 25, 2025 at the Lawton Fort Sill Veterans Center. Barbara was born on February 6, 1931 in Ehrhardt, South Carolina to Charles and Della May Carter. The first child of 14 with half siblings for a total of 23 children.  

At the age of 18 she enlisted in the Women's Army Corps, the women's branch of the United States Army. While in the service of her country, she met and married the love of her life, J.R. Roberts and celebrated 51 years together. 

Those she has left behind to cherish her memory are son, Jim Roberts of Dallas, Texas and daughter Diane and son-in-law Mel Fitzhenry of Wichita Falls, Texas. In addition to her children, she is survived by 4 Grand Daughters, Julie and Kevin Riley, Leah and Flash Harbour, April Brzezinski, and Adrianne and Scotty Beamon. She was also blessed with bonus Grandchildren Shane and Carla fitzhenry, Nicole and Pete Borsack.Along with her 15 Great Grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Brother James Carter, Floyd Carter, laura Isgitt and Rachel Stinson and their spouses as well as many other loving family members and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband J.R. and an infant son Drake Roberts. 

We invite you to join us and share our memories of our loving Mother for services to be held at the Anderson Clayton Funeral Home on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Visitation from 11:00am-12:00pm, with services to follow immediately from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm. There will be no graveside service but she will be laid to rest at Oakland Memorial Cemetery in Terrell, TX beside her husband.
